A recent Ph.D. graduate of Harvard University, neuroscientist and writer Karen Bao will be available for readings and questions about her latest novel, Pangu's Shadow, in which two immigrant scientists at the most prestigious science academy in space are falsely accused of murdering their professor. Ask her anything about writing books, science, or both!

Karen Jialu Bao does science in the lab, then goes home and writes about it. A Ph.D. graduate of Harvard University, she studied mosquito brains by blasting them with an electron beam. She has eight ear piercings for no reason. Her favorite activities include cooking, tending her plants, singing, and playing her violin. She is the author of Pangu’s Shadow, the Dove Chronicles trilogy, and a contributor to the YA mental health anthology Ab(solutely) Normal.
This event is part of Cambridge Science Festival, a celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). A multifaceted, multicultural event, the Festival makes science accessible, interactive and fun, highlighting the impact of STEAM in all our lives.
