CPL CRAFTS: Make A Quilt Block with Michael C. Thorpe In-Person
Quilting is a textile art based on community, connection, and collaboration. Whether you are a beginning sewist or experienced crafter, quilting is a great entry way into new, meaningful, and exciting projects. And it can be done with materials and scraps from around the home- from quilting cotton to old curtains. Celebrated quilting artist Michael C. Thorpe will talk about his boundary breaking work and teach you how to make your own quilt block in this engaging workshop!
Michael C. Thorpe is a visual artist living and working out of New York, New York, with a primary focus in textiles. His mother, Susan Richards, taught him the art and craft of quilting. Thorpe is exploring the limitations of both social constructs and textiles by combining fabrics, imagery and language to evoke alternative perspectives on the human experience.
